British Mathematical Olympiad

The British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1 is aimed at the top 1000 students as selected by the Senior Maths Challenge; this year five boys qualified. All of them did well, with John Hayton and Xue Bang Chen gaining certificates of distinction.

Robert Hillier did extremely well, scoring a very impressive 45 out of 60 marks—including scoring full marks in four of the six questions to gain not only a certificate of distinction but also a bronze medal, a book, and a place in the second round. This shows that he was placed in the top 100 nationally! Very well done!
