Over the last eighty years computers have gone from being a theoretical concept discussed by mathematicians to an integral part of our lives. During this time much has changed in how we use computers but the basic principles behind them have remained the same.

The focus at Camp Hill Boys is very much along these principles. We do not aim for our students to simply become users of software (though they will acquire these skills in computing lessons and in other subjects throughout their time at the school). We want them to leave the school able to understand the technology they use, where necessary adapt it, or even produce their own. Our hope is that with these skills, whatever direction they take, they are prepared to lead the way in their use of computing technology.

We maintain a Twitter (X) feed for the department (@KECH_CompSci) where we post details of competitions, work experience opportunities, etc. [Unfortunately our website provider no longer posts updates on this page so you'll have to visit it manually for more recent posts.]

If interested in current computer-related news stories then you might find this automatically updated list of Computer Weekly articles helpful - click here. You'll need to register (free) if you want to read them though, so be aware of any personal data you might be giving away! Even looking at the list gives a flavour of the range of issues impacting the industry - something you often don't really 'see' when in school.
