CHB Alumni Ski Adventure 2024

“Come and relive your youth and join Phil on the ski slopes of the Alps”, see message from Phil Carman below:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello to you all

Recently a number of Camp Hill ‘Old Boys’ have mentioned, in passing, that they would love to join in if someone (i.e. me) could organise a ski week in the Alps (or similar), specifically aimed at CHB Alumni.  Skiing as a group is much more enjoyable than solo and, of course, there is also the added advantage of enjoying the ‘après-ski’ experience with likeminded souls with similar values.

In brief, the aim is to do just that but we would restrict ourselves to simply suggesting a venue and dates but NOT booking travel or accommodation – that would be left to individuals or ‘friendship groups’ – for obvious reasons.  You may have extensive ski experience or none at all; it really doesn’t matter!  You’re never too old to try a new skill.  You could book lessons or just point your ski’s downhill, check your insurance policy and take off.  Not really recommended but bags of fun for everyone else to watch!!  It’s not too late for this coming winter, but to make it worthwhile, we would need to get moving soon.  If any of you reading this have any suggestions, ideas or thoughts about when, where etc. then please contact Leanne Beckett, Development Manager who will share my contact details to interested parties – chbalumni@camphillboys.bham.sch.uk

For this first organised event we would select a suitable ski resort and a week in mid-late January or early February 2024, depending on responses to these variables.  Your suggestions would be very welcome!!

I want to make it clear that this is a non-profit-making scheme, I’m not looking for a freebie, everyone will be responsible for making their own bookings, me included!!

I look forward to hearing back from you.

“My friends were trying to organise a ski trip; I was sure we should just go for it.  After all, there’s snow time like the present”

“Some guy I know from school just brushed past me without a skiing jacket on.  I think he was giving me the cold shoulder”
