Admissions
Applications for September 2026 are now open. Applications close at 9am on Monday 23rd February.
Every year we accept at least 40 students into our Sixth Form from other schools. We encourage applications from ambitious, hard working students who are willing and eager to actively engage with our school community.
When you apply, you must provide your predicted GCSE grades, evidence of the predicted grades (e.g., uploaded school report), and the A level subjects you wish to take.
We aim to make offers by Easter.

Minimum entry criteria
Admission to the Sixth Form is based on a student’s 'Best 8' score, which is the sum of their best 6 GCSE grades, plus their grades in GCSE English Language and Mathematics. For example, if somebody achieved a grade 8 in Mathematics, a grade 9 in English Language, plus three grade 9s, two grade 8s, one grade 7 and two grade 6s, their Best 8 score would be 8+9+9+9+9+8+8+7=67. The grade 6s would not count towards their Best 8 score.
If we receive more applications than we have places, we have to apply an oversubscription criteria. In the event of oversubscription, priority will be given to students based on the following criteria. The criteria will be applied in rank order:
1. Looked After Children / Previously Looked After Children who meet the admissions criteria
2. Students attracting the Pupil Premium who meet the admissions criteria, up to a maximum of 25% of the total places available for external applicants. Applicants in this category will be ranked by highest (Best 8) predicted GCSE score (or mock GCSE results, if these are higher).
3. Offers will then be made (depending on capacity in the Sixth Form and in individual subjects) to other external applicants with the highest (Best 8) predicted GCSE score (or mock GCSE results, if these are higher).
4. Where external applicants have equal Best 8 subject scores, then the average score of the 3 stated A Level subjects (or equivalent subjects, if a stated subject was not studied at GCSE), will be applied.
Subject choices
When you apply, you will select three subjects to study*. If you wish to study a fourth subject, you can indicate on the application form what this fourth subject would be and why you wish to study it. Some students wish to study four A levels to broaden their A level curriculum, or to show competitive universities that they have the ability to succeed whilst studying a heavy workload.
Offers could be based on three or four subjects, depending on availability of the fourth subject requested.
*Mathematics and Further Mathematics, whilst two A levels, counts as one subject on the application form. If you wish to study Mathematics and Further Mathematics, you must select an additional two subjects to study.
